The bones of winter
Lie upon the shore
The flotsam-jetsam of the chilly sea.
They form a pattern and design
Against the sane, as if
Flung free by some almighty hand.
From deep within
The reaches of the sea,
The bones of winter speak
Their tales to me -- of gallant
Ships that once
So proudly roamed
Now laid to rest,
And finally come home!
