ABOUT THE BOOK
The adventurous blue lobster, Titus Tidewater, welcomes the summer season in Maine. Summer means exciting happenings close to the shoreline but also lurking dangers in the shallow warm water. Titus cautiously explores that ocean floor but soon finds himself ensnared in a lobster trap. Unable to free himself, he is taken away from his familiar oceanic surroundings and enters into a strange new world on land, before he is ultimately rescued by two children and the ocean itself.

A recipient of the Society of Illustrators award, Suzy Verrier's lavish watercolors bring Titus's tale to life. This classic children's book narrates the life of one Maine lobster and displays a captivating world under the sea. Islandport has updated Titus with a new look and added fun facts about Maine lobsters throughout.

The Islandport Press reissue of Suzy Verrier's vibrantly illustrated children's book is redesigned and filled with fascinating facts about Maine lobsters, such as:

"A lobster's shell can be many colors. Lobsters have been caught with blue, orange, yellow, brownish-green and bicolor shells that are two different colors divided down the middle. The different colors are caused by the pigment present in the shells."

EXCERPT
Sunlight danced on the ocean floor when Titus Tidewater poked his head out of the cave. "What a perfect day for adventure," he thought as he left the cave. His summer shell was still too tender to protect him, but it was just too beautiful to stay inside. Titus tidewater twined amid seaweed and rocks.

He swam backward as all lobsters do, but was very careful not to bump into sharp rocks or large fish.
