Islandport Press leaps to web forefront with powerful new site


Islandport Press will officially launch a new website Dec. 5, the first part of a multi-phase web initiative that will dramatically upgrade the company’s online presence and capabilities, in advance of the book publisher's 15th anniversary in 2014.

Children's author and illustrator Astrid Sheckels' picture book, Nic and Nellie, about a young girl who spends the summer away from home for the first time, received the 2013 Moonbeam Children's Book Award for Best Picture Book - All Ages.

Veteran writer and editor Genevieve A. Morgan will join Islandport Press as a senior editor who will oversee acquisition of specialty, nonfiction, and fiction books and guide the development of gift products as the Maine-based publisher increases the number of books it publishes and expands into new markets and formats.

Jennifer Hazard hired at Islandport Press


Veteran freelance writer and popular family blogger Jennifer Hazard has joined Islandport Press as an assistant editor. And so does Maine writer and illustrator Mark Ricketts, himself a recovering Flatlander. His desire to share what he has learned about the state in the past decade has led him to create the hilarious new book, A Flatlander's Guide to Maine.

Islandport signs Lea Wait for middle-grade historical novel


Maine author Lea Wait dramatically conveys the mood of the 1860s, as experienced by three teenagers, in her forthcoming middle-grade chapter book, Uncertain Glory, scheduled for release in 2014 from Islandport Press.
