Internships: Summer 2023

For Summer 2023, Islandport Press will again offer a ten-week, in-person internship in the book publishing industry. We look for highly-motivated, organized, enthusiastic individuals who are interested in learning about all aspects of book publishing from editing to marketing to events, and are willing to pitch in wherever the need arises. These are paid hourly positions with set, but somewhat flexible schedules.

Our interns typically work 24 to 30 hours a week from mid-June to mid-August. (Occasionally, we offer shorter internships during spring and fall semesters.) We give preference to college students who will be entering their senior year, but we also consider recent post-graduates as well as younger college students.

For Summer 2023, applications are due by April 7. We will review all applicants and make a final hiring decision by

early May.

Interns at Islandport Press will work in all areas of a small publishing house. Duties include, but are not limited to editing, manuscript evaluation, data entry, marketing, social media, research, writing, and other miscellaneous tasks.

If you are interested in a summer internship, you must submit a resume and cover letter, including your dates of availability and expressing the goals you hope to accomplish, no later than April 7. Please send your application via email to

Shannon Butler at No telephone calls, please.
