About the book
Whether by choice, by happenstance, or by the force of shifting geopolitics, Maine has become home to diverse people from all walks of life and around the globe. Now, amid changing political winds, immigrants face increased racism and discrimination, threats of deportation, and weakening support as organizations helping them confront funding cuts. For young immigrants in particular, these challenges can be especially daunting as they navigate their access to education, career paths, and raising their next generation families in the United States. Yet these immigrants have much to teach us about resilience, the meaning of freedom, and the value of democracy.
Join Islandport Press and Coffee By Design for an evening panel discussion featuring young immigrants who will share their stories, concerns, and hopes for the future of life in Maine and America.
A portion of proceeds from the evening's book sales will be donated to Furniture Friends.
